The ectomycorrhizae and sclerotia of Gyrodon lividus on Alnus incana are comprehensively described. They are compared with those of Paxillus involutus and Pisolithus tinctorius, Characteristic features of Gyrodon lividus mycorrhizae are highly differentiated rhizomorphs, inflated ends of short emanating hyphae, inflated hyphal cells arranged nest-like on the mantle; as well as sclerotia exuding a blue milk when injured under water.

Eighteen taxa of higher fungi (Boletales, Agaricales, Gasteromycetes and Ascomycetes) are reported as new to Israel. Brief descriptions are given of some rare taxa, based on the Israeli material.

Nine species of tubulate and two species of lamellate boletes are recognized in the mycota of Parana State, Brazil, of which five are considered introduced. Gloeocantharellus corneri and a further genus of boletes are noted, the latter based on immature material. These records are new to South America, Brazil or Parana State. Three new combinations are made in the genus Boletinellus for species previously placed in Gyrodon: Boletinellus exiguus, B. monticola and B. rompelii.
